Judy Farrell

Judy Kay Farrell was born on March 29, 1944, in Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of Francis and LaVerne (Sullivan) Farley. She died on Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at the age of sixty-six. When she was three months old, her family moved to Vail, Iowa. She attended St. Anns School in Vail and Kuemper High School in Carroll, Iowa. After most of her children were raised, she later graduated from Des Moines Area Community College in Carroll, Iowa, in May 1990.
On May 11, 1963, she was united in marriage to David Dean Farrell at St. Anns Catholic Church in Vail. They were blessed with six children. She was employed at Des Moines Area Community College in Carroll for 13 years. She retired from DMACC in June 2004. She was a lifelong member of St. Anns Catholic Church and was a past officer of St. Anns Altar Society.
Judy enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. She loved the outdoors. She also liked traveling with her husband around the country, playing cards, golfing, working on her computer, doing crafts, working in her flower garden and going to casinos with her friends.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband, Dean in January 2001; a great-granddaughter; her parents and grandparents; one son-in-law. She is survived by her children: Lisa; Lynne; David and his wife, Rhonda; Dana and her husband, Robert; Laurie and special friend, Steve; Meggan and special friend, JB; 14 grandchildren: Amanda and Alison; Nicholas, Cody, Abby, Madeline and Kaitlyn; Paige, Taylor and Christopher; Michael, Riley and Andy;McKenna; two great-grandchildren: Michaela and Jayden; her sister, Janice and her husband, Ken; and her brother-in-law, William and his wife, Betty; other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 17, 2010, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Vail, Iowa. Fr. Robert Gralapp served as Celebrant and Fr. Paul Kelly as Concelebrant of the Mass with interment at St. Anns Catholic Cemetery in Vail. Organist Irene Feilmeier provided accompaniment for the St. Anns Family Choir and vocalists Sue Rosener and Katie Farrell. Serving as lector was Peggy Staley, as Eucharistic ministers were Mark and Betty Schwery, as servers were Ryan and Rachel Gangestad, as gift bearers were Mary Jo Mueggenberg, Carol Smith and Phyllis Luft. Honorary pallbearers were Judys grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers were Charlie Crampton, Mark Crampton, Gene Bechen, Richard Smith, Daryl Keairnes, James Miller Jr. and Brian Freese. A Prayer Service was held at 7 p.m., Friday. The family invited everyone to the Community Building for fellowship and lunch served by the St. Anns Parish Teams. The Huebner Funeral Home in Denison was in charge of arrangements.
