Albert Otto Bullmann, Sr. was born October 22, 1921, the son of Otto and Henny Sanders Bullmann. He passed away Thursday, March 15, 2012, at the Carroll Health Center in Carroll, Iowa, at the age of 90.
Albert was born in Wiesbaden, Germany. He received his education near his home. On February 9, 1946, Albert was united in marriage to Lieselotte Keim in Bierstadt, Germany. The couple made their home in Bierstadt and were blessed with the birth of two children, Albert, Jr. in Germany and Joanne in the U.S. In May 1956 the couple arrived in the United States in Ida County, Iowa. They lived in Schleswig, Iowa, until April 1964 and then settled in Ricketts, Iowa. Albert and Lottie became U.S. citizens in 1966. Albert was a master plumber in Germany and continued this profession until his retirement in 1985.
Albert served as Mayor in Ricketts, was a member of the City Council, was a Fireman and Fire Chief. He was instrumental in helping the town of Ricketts obtain funds and furnishings for the Community Center. Albert was Vice President of the Elderbridge Agency and also served on the board. He was honored with two Elderbridge Awards and two Governors Awards for his work with the city of Ricketts. Albert and Lottie were a team that helped bring Congregate meals to Ricketts, as he delivered the meals three times a week. In his spare time, he enjoyed wrestling, going fishing, and watching sitcoms and westerns on television. Albert was a member of St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Ricketts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lottie in 2005; one son, Albert, Jr. in 2006; one brother, Otto; and one sister, Hilde. Survivors include one daughter, Joanne and her husband, Gene; one daughter-in-law, Sheila; two granddaughters, Kelly and Amanda; one sister, Ilse; other relatives and friends.
