Albert William Whiteing Jr., the son of Albert Whiteing Sr. and Evelyn McCoid was born in Omaha, Nebraska on April 29, 1952 and died at CHI Mercy in Council Bluffs, Iowa surrounded by his family on July 19, 2024 at the age of 72 years.
Albert received his childhood education through the Omaha Public School system. In June 1970, at age 18, Albert enlisted into the United States Army as a Supply Specialist. He was stationed in Fort Carson, Colorado and in 1976 was later stationed overseas at Gelnhausen, Germany as an armorer with the 3rd Armored Division. After his courageous service to his country, Albert returned home where he worked different jobs.
Albert was largely known as a Trekkie, an avid fisher, camper, a leader of Boy Scouts, a video game enthusiast, and most importantly a man with a hard hand and a soft heart. Albert would help anyone in need without any judgement.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Evelyn; in-laws: Carol and Mryland; brothers: Richard McCoid, Robert Whiteing, and Raymond Whiteing; sister, Karen Bonenberger; and grandchildren: Isaiah and Jerimiah Whiteing.
Albert is survived by his wife, Karen Blunk; children: Devlun (Jean) Whiteing, Joshua Whiteing, Jeffery (Mackenzie) Blunk, Alex (Emily) Whiteing, Melissa Samaniego, and Elizabeth Baker; and former wife, Cynthia Volkman. Also surviving are his brothers: Charles (Shelly) Whiteing and William Whiteing; sister, Kathleen Fitzgerald; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends.
Celebration of Life Services are set for Thursday, July 25, 2024 at Huebner Funeral Home in Denison at 10:00 a.m with a luncheon to follow at Nelson’s Park. The family asks that you bring fishing poles and lawn chairs.
