Alice Frieda Jochims Johnson was born December 26, 1918, to Adolph and Amanda Stockfleth Jochims in Morgan Township. She was baptized on June 29, 1919, and confirmed on April 9, 1933. She was united in marriage to Victor Gehring in July 1936, and to this union one daughter, Zola was born.
Alice was united in marriage to Roy Johnson on June 28, 1959.They farmed in Ida County until 1995 and then moved into their home in Schleswig, Iowa.
Alice was happy cooking in her kitchen and was especially known for her delicious gravy and creamed peas. She enjoyed socializing with family and friends, playing cards, and collecting cardinals.
Survivors include her husband, Roy; daughter, Zola; two grandchildren, Randy and Linda; and Les and Vicky; one great-granddaughter, Stacey and Steve; two brothers, Arlo and Glen and special friend, Pat; nieces, nephews, and several friends.
Those preceding her in death were her parents; Adolph and Amanda; one son-in-law, Norman; one grandson, Ricky; one great-grandson, Chad; four sisters: Hilda (Art); Leone (Bill); Lorraine (Ardelbert); and Sadie; two brothers, Harvey (Adele), and Clarence; and in-laws, Gunnar and Anna.
