Allen Stoneking

July 7, 1926 — April 15, 2014

Allen “Stoney” Stoneking was born on July 7, 1926 in Quimby, Iowa and was the first son of Marion and Leona Bennett Stoneking. He died Tuesday April 15, 2014 at Eventide in Denison, Iowa at age of eighty-eight.
He and his family moved to Schleswig over 75 years ago where he attended school and participated in sports.In 1944, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served at the Naval Air Base in Norman, Oklahoma. Returning home he met and married the love of his life, Frances Menard, on June 3, 1950, at the Catholic Church in Salix, Iowa. The couple made their home in Schleswig, Iowa, and were blessed with the birth of three children: Michelle, Denise and Seana. The couple celebrated 60 years of marriage in 2010. During his life he worked as an over the road trucker and later went to work at Iowa Beef Packers where he spent 27 years.
He was a loving and devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Stoney loved to dance and travel with Fran and they managed to see all 50 states during their years together. Since retirement Stoney enjoyed golfing with his three buddies and will be missed out on the course. He also enjoyed walking, gardening, reading, and was a member of the American Legion, Post 645 and the Schelwsig Fire Department.
Preceded in death by his parents, wife, Frances; and one daughter, Seana; one brother-in-law, Leo; He is survived by his daughters: Michelle and her husband, Steve; and Denise; 4 grandchildren; Travis, Tiffany, Nicholas, Thomas; and 5 great-grandchildren; one brother Alfred and his wife, Marjorie; and one sister Maxine; many other relatives and friends.
