Alvera Ruth Hanneman was born March 19, 1925, the daughter of Louis and Ida Reetz Sprock. She died Friday, April 1, 2011, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of eighty-six.
Alvera was born in Charter Oak, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. She received her education at St. Johns Parochial School and graduated from Charter Oak High School in1942. After receiving her education she worked at Nigg Drug Store.
On December 21, 1944, Alvera was united in marriage to Bruce Hanneman in Tyler, Texas. They were the parents of two daughters and one son. After Bruce was discharged from the service in 1946, they started farming in Arthur, Iowa, and then moved back to Schleswig to the home place in 1957. They farmed alone until 1970 when they started farming with their daughter and son-in-law.
Alvera was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She loved her farm life and her church work, which consisted of being on the council and serving as an officer in Guild for a number of years. In her leisure time she enjoyed traveling and reading. They retired to Schleswig in 2005 and moved to Silveridge in 2011.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant son, two sons-in-law, Richard and Marlowe; and two sisters, Lorraine and Vernette and her husband, Frank. Survivors include her husband, Bruce; two daughters, DianaandSusan and her husband, Bob; five grandchildren, Toddand his wife, Kris; Stacy and her husband, David; Amber and her husband, Nathan; Ryan and special friend, Lindsey; and Rachelle; two step grandchildren, Dan and his wife, Donna; and Kristin and her husband, Rusty; seven great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren; one brother, Lewis and his wife, Shirley; one sister-in-law, Delores; other relatives and friends.
