Annetta "Annie" Petersen

September 21, 1929 — July 7, 2013

Annetta Minnie Petersen was born September 21, 1929, the daughter of Adolph and Gerhardine Brnssen Petersen. She passed away July 7, 2013, at the Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 83.
Annie was born in Dow City, Iowa, Paradise Township, and moved with her family as a child to Ricketts, Iowa. As a child she was baptized in the Christian faith and later confirmed at St. Luke Lutheran Church on April 6, 1955. Annie received her education in the Schleswig and Ricketts schools. After she finished her schooling she continued to make her home in Ricketts and helped the family by babysitting for nieces and nephews. She also helped with chores, walking beans, and set pins at the bowling alley in Ricketts. Later Annie helped her sister with the janitorial work at St. Luke Lutheran Church. When her home caught fire in 2001 Annie went to live with her sister until 2005 when she moved to Eventide.
Annie was a gentle and a good-natured woman that always had a smile on her face. She loved spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews and never expected to be repaid for her kindness. Christmas and Thanksgiving were very special holidays to her. Annie liked watching the birds in the aviary at Eventide and working word search puzzles. She enjoyed church music and was a faithful member of St. Luke Lutheran Church in Ricketts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Vernon and Melvin Petersen; two sisters, Ruby Lewis and her husband, Don; and Phyllis Rolfes and her husband, Lester; one nephew, Dennis Petersen; and one brother-in-law, John Jors. Survivors include two sisters: Diann Jepsen and her husband, Vernon; and Irene Jors, all of Ricketts; and one brother, Leonard Petersen of Jacksonville, Arkansas; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
