Arlene Birney

Arlene Birney age 91 of Broken Bow, NE passed away July 19, 2024, at the Brookestone View in Broken Bow.

Phyllis Arlene (North) Birney was born October 3, 1932, along with her twin brother Robert Arlo North. They were the first of 10 kids born to Sears and Olive (Dowling) North.

Arlene graduated from Dow City High School and went on to graduate from Nursing School.

Arlene was united in marriage to Clemet Birney August 19, 1956, and was blessed with four children, Robert Edward, Sharon Louise, Glen Clemet, and Bonnie Jean.

Arlene is survived by her son Robert (Susan) Birney of Washington State, daughter Sharon Hansen of Broken Bow, and daughter Bonnie (Kevin) Wright of Broken Bow, daughter-in-law Peggy Birney of Broken Bow, sister Shirley Garrett of Dow City, IA, ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Arlene was preceded in death by her husband Clemet, son Glen, siblings Arlo, Don, Olive Mae, Jim, John, Glenn, La Nora, and Mary Lou, granddaughter Heather and great-grandson Taten.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, from 10:30 to 11:30 AM at the Huebner Funeral Home at 1437 Broadway in Denison, Iowa. Graveside services will be held at 12:00 Noon at the Dow City Cemetery in Dow City, IA.
