Arlene Marie Rank was born April 5, 1940, at Denison, Iowa, the daughter of Milroy and Eleanor Henningsen. She passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of seventy-seven.
Arlene was baptized in Christ August 16, 1940, and confirmed her faith April 3, 1955, both occasions officiated by Pastor C.W. Schmidt at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. She received her education in the schools near her home and graduated from Denison High School with the class of 1958. On October 11, 1959, she was united in marriage to John Rank at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa, by Pastor C.W. Schmidt. John and Arlene were married 50 years before John’s passing in 2009.
After her high school graduation she was employed at the Crawford County Trust & Savings Bank in Denison until the early 60's when her daughter Kristine was born. She then was a stay-at-home mom and farm wife, helping with the farming operation. In 1980, she went to work at Charter Oak State Bank and in 1984 began driving truck until the late 90's.
She enjoyed watching television – her favorite shows being The Bold and The Beautiful, The Bachelor, Dancing With the Stars, game shows and bull riding. She loved technology, her computer and her Ipad. Playing cards, especially Euchre, with the ladies and socializing over a cup of coffee and pie were her favorite pastimes. Arlene also enjoyed the athletics of Iowa State basketball and football. Listening to the music of Ann Murray and Kenny Rogers also brought her great pleasure.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; daughter, Kristine; brother, Robert; and sister-in-law, Shirley and her husband, Norman. Survivors include: one son, Brian and his wife, Sylvia; one daughter, Diana and her husband, Daniel; eight grandchildren: Joe, Brad and his wife, Tara; Marcy and her husband, Dusty; Jessica and her husband, Brandon; Kara and her husband, Danny; Ean,Brea; and Julian; eleven great-grandchildren: R.J., Bailey, Myia, Ashton, Kimber, Deacon, Naniba, Tah, Yani, Willow and Kaleo; two sisters, Carol and her husband, Terry, and Judy and her husband, Gary; one sister-in-law, Janice; other relatives and friends.
