Arlene Schroeder

Arlene Anna Schroeder was born July 20, 1925, in Charter Oak, Iowa, the daughter of Fritz and Clara Plagge. She passed away Monday, February 25, 2019, at the home of her daughter Joyce and son-in-law Mike, near Papillion, Nebraska, at the age of ninety-three.
Arlene was baptized in Christ August 16, 1925, and confirmed her faith April 2, 1939, both at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, Iowa. On January 7, 1951, Arlene was united in marriage to Raymond Schroeder also at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. The couple made their home first on a farm near Clinton, Iowa and then on a farm near Charter Oak and was blessed with the birth of four children. For the past ten years, Arlene resided with her daughter Joyce and son-in-law Mike near Papillion, Nebraska, but her heart was always back in Charter Oak.
Her Christian faith was a very important part of Arlene’s life. She prepared her children for their faith, encouraged scripture memory and Christian living and explained about temptations they would encounter throughout their lives. The telephone was a big and important means of communication for her. She was an excellent homemaker and always had baked goods for company coming. Arlene took great pride in caring for her house and for the yard. She loved farm life, loved birds and hearing the sounds around the farm. Arlene worked with her father on the farm when growing up and enjoyed nature, flower and vegetable gardening and her chickens. She loved listening to the radio and especially KMA radio homemakers. She was a loving mother and caregiver for her family and extended family.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raymond in 2009; and one son-in-law, Dick. Survivors include: one son, Gary and his wife, Marge; three daughters, Eunice, Kay, and Joyce and her husband, Mike; four granddaughters; seven great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
