Arthur F. Boettger, son of John and Elsie Finneran Boettger was born on a farm in Hanover Township, Section 29, Charter Oak, Iowa, on January 29, 1922. Art was baptized on November 26, 1922, at the Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa, and later confirmed there on November 5, 1944. Art died on December 18, 2012, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison.
Art was born and raised on the farm. He loved farming and was dedicated to the land that he farmed. On April 23, 1944 Art was united in marriage to Edaline Emma Eggert. They were married in the Lutheran parsonage at Denison with Rev. Carl W. Schmidt officiating. Art and Edaline celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1994. They celebrated 68 years of marriage in 2012.
Art and Edaline lived for 15 years on a farm near Kenwood, which they rented from Herman Tebbe. In April 1959, Art purchased a farm in Paradise #1. Art and Edaline moved their family to this farm in 1960.
In 1977 Art and Edaline purchased a house at 922 West Broadway in Denison and lived there until 2011. In February 2011 they moved to Silveridge Assisted Living. Art loved farm and family, always enjoying family events and visiting with friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Edaline; one son, Jerry Boettger and his wife, Patti; all of Denison; three daughters: JoAnn Renze and her husband, Fred of Galva, Iowa; Joyce Butler and her husband, Curtis of Dow City, Iowa; and Janice Gierstorf and her husband, Arlen of Schleswig, Iowa; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; one brother, Lester Boettger and his wife, Frances; two sisters-in-law, Loretta Petersen and Irma Jean Mork and her husband, Marland; all of Denison; many nieces and nephews; other relatives; and a host of friends. Art was preceded in death by his parents, John and Elsie; and three brothers: Hugo Boettger, Raymond Boettger, and Jack Boettger.
