Arthur C. Becker

Arthur Clem Becker was born January 27, 1928, in Breda, Iowa, the son of William and Amelia Reising Becker. He died Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at the home of his son, Dan, at the age of eighty-eight.
Arthur received his education in schools near his home. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Janning, November 11, 1952, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. In the early 1980's, Arthur and Dorothy opened the Far Out Cafe in Dunlap which they operated for ten years. From this business, they established a lunch wagon service which they operated until 2000, along with being involved with farming.
In his leisure time, he enjoyed reading, especially Louis Lemar western books, and he had a great memory for the story lines. Arthur also spent time working on wood crafts and tinkering. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing cards and fishing in the family pond. TV favorites were old westerns especially John Wayne films. He also took trips to Universal Studios and to various states to visit family.
Arthur was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy in 2011; four brothers: Mike, Bill, Bob and Zenas Becker; and two sisters, Helen and Jovina. Survivors include: two sons, Daniel of Charter Oak, and Dennis and his wife, Jackie of Dunlap; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; five brothers: Gary Becker and wife, Maureen, and Allen Becker all of Perry; John Becker and wife, Marna of Afton, Iowa; Gene Becker and his wife, Kay of Pomeroy, Iowa and Jerome Becker of Glidden; two sisters: Clarita Roth of Spencer, Iowa, and Phyllis Danner of Glidden, Iowa; three sisters-in-law: Eileen Becker of Des Moines; Mary Lou Becker of Carroll; and Loa Becker of Maple River; other relatives and friends.
