Avis Kuehl

Avis Jean Kuehl was born August 8, 1929, the daughter of William and Hertha Jurgensen Janssen. She passed away at Cox Hospital South in Springfield, Missouri, on December 31, 2011, at the age of 82.
Avis was born in Schleswig, Iowa. She graduated from Schleswig High School with the class of 1948. Avis worked at the Schleswig High School as a bookkeeper after graduation and then went on to attend Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City. She was united in marriage to Oran Kuehl on June 8, 1952, and to this union was born three children. After marriage, Avis became a homemaker and also worked in various restaurants as a hostess.
Avis loved to cook and would experiment with different recipes, altering them until she liked what she tasted. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and in recent years also took a liking to the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. Avis loved to travel, go out to eat, watch the birds, go for a drive, and socialize with her neighbors. She moved to Springfield, Missouri in the late 90s to be near her daughter and family.
Avis was preceded in death by her parents; and one son in infancy. Survivors include two daughters, Loa and her husband, Buddy; and Tami; and one son, William; two grandsons, Jacob and John; other relatives and friends.
