Barbara Lingle

Barbara Josephine Lingle was born December 14, 1923, the daughter of Hans and Gertrude Milburn Brodersen. She passed away Monday, December 23, 2013, at the Denison Care Center in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 90.
Barb was born in Denison, Iowa. She received her education in the Denison Community Schools graduating with the class of 1941. Barb attended Nursing School in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Barb worked for Drs. Crabb, Fee and Dr. Bendixen in Denison as a registered nurse.
On August 18, 1943, Barb was united in marriage to John Robert Lingle in Fremont, Nebraska. The couple settled in Denison and were blessed with the birth of four children.
Barb was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed being with her family and attending her children’s sporting events and activities. Barb was a compassionate and caring lady as she took off one year of work to care for her critically ill neighbor. She was also an avid reader. After retiring, Bob and Barb enjoyed traveling in their motor home and wintered at their home in Tucson, Arizona for 20 years. They also traveled a couple times to Hawaii and to several of Bob’s battleship reunions.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Bob in 2004; two sons, William in infancy; and Robert (Bob); two brothers, Kenneth in WWII; and Hans (Dutch); and one sister, Rosanne Alcola. Survivors include two children, Scott Lingle and his wife, Lori of Tucson, Arizona; and Connie Perdue and her husband Keith of Red Oak, Iowa; one daughter-in-law, Vicki Lingle of Broomfield, Colorado; eight grandchildren: Jennifer and Tony Wiese of Colorado; Erin and Briant Szobody of Broomfield, Colorado; Steven Lingle and Katie Lingle of Tucson, Arizona; Matt Coates of Red Oak, Iowa; Ali and Austin Duysen of Emerson, Iowa; Riley and Dyan Perdue of Chesapeake, Virginia; and Whitney Shanker of Red Oak, Iowa; five great-grandchildren: Rhiannon, Aiden, Jackson, Sawyer, and Madeline; two sisters: Gretchen Hamlett of Delta, Colorado; and Mary Bohnker and her husband, Norman of Wheatridge, Colorado; one brother, Rick Brodersen and his wife, Judy of Denison; other relatives and friends.
