Barbara Pierce

Barbara Louise Pierce, more affectionately known as Barb was born on August 20, 1949, the daughter of Clifford and Helen (Hueton) Brookbank in Coon Rapids, Iowa. She was baptized into the Lutheran faith. Barb received her education from Carroll High School and graduated with the class of 1968.

Barb married Jerry Pierce in 1968 and they were blessed with two daughters: Bobbi and Tammie. She spent time working in Glidden and after becoming a mother she was blessed to stay at home and raise her daughters. She stayed busy keeping a tidy home and preparing hot meals for her family. In her younger years, she played on a bowling league. She loved socializing with her cats and baking for her family. Above all, she cherished being a grandma.

Barb passed away suddenly at her home surrounded by family on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at the age of 74 years, two months and 27 days.

Barb was preceded in death by her parents and husband Jerry Pierce on July 31, 2023. She is survived by her two daughters: Bobbi (Felipe “Flip”) Garcia of Denison, Tammie (Delane) Petersen of Manning; grandchildren: Chris (Jamie) Beyerink of Carroll, Tiffany Naberhaus of Manning, Kayla Beyerink (Juan) of Denison, Michael Naberhaus of Denison, Jeffery Naberhaus of Carroll, Colby (Lexi) Petersen of Irwin and Zeth Petersen of Audubon; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Alcox of Nevada; sister-in-law, Judy Frye of Denison; brother-in-law, Danny Craig of Fort Collins, Colorado; Shawn Ewoldt of Aspinwall, whom she considered a son; and many other relatives and friends.  

Barb’s wishes were to be cremated. The family will hold a Celebration of Life for Barb from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2023, at the Denison Senior Center. Her and Jerry will be laid to rest in the Glidden Cemetery at a later date.
