Bernadette Gallagher

Bernadette Mae Gallagher age ninety-four years, eight months, six days was granted her last wish when she slipped away quietly while she slept into the arms of her guardian angels who took her to her Heavenly Father’s side on January 29, 2015.
Bernadette Siegner Gallagher born May 23, 1920 to Henry and Susan Flynn Siegner. Lifetime member of St. Ann’s parish Vail, Iowa. She completed her education until 8th grade. Worked as a housekeeper in homes around Vail, on May 23, 1939, Bernadette was united in marriage to Lawrence Gallagher..
They were farmers and moved to her present home in 1954
Besides her family her parish was top on her list. Up until 2011, she was the funeral potato lady. Her home made buns were a must at many gatherings along with her bread sticks and her own cheese sauce which were her families favorite. She never came to a party without her homemade mints. Her daughters were always dressed in her own creations. Shopping was for flour, sugar and yeast because the rest of her meals were raised in her big garden and the meat came from their feedlot. Her last canning was this summer when she once again filled the shelves with green beans and tomato sauce. There was not a baby born that did not receive a blanket crocheted by her to welcome them into the world!
Bernadette is preceded in death by: her husband, in 1998 after 59 years of marriage; her parents; in-laws, Andrew and Margaret O’Boyle Gallagher; one brother, Jim Siegner; sisters: Betty Lilleholm and her husband Don; twin sister Bernadean Kropf and her husband, Leonard; brothers and sisters-in-law: Leonard and his wife, Lucille; Lillian; Melvin; John; and Gerard; one grandson, Philip Thelen.
Those left to treasure her life are: Cecelia (Lawrence); Cornelius (Carol); Damian; Margaret (Larry); Mary (Russ); Patricia (Mike); Phyllis; Geri (Kevin); and Therese (Mark); 36 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Joyce; a number of nieces and nephews and other relatives.
