Bernadine Deiber

March 20, 1926 — May 21, 2011

Bernadine Elma Deiber was born March 20, 1926, the daughter of John and Hulda Hollander Greder. She died Saturday, May 21, 2011, at the Denison Care Center at the age of eighty-five.

Bernadine was born on a farm near Denison, Iowa where she grew up, beginning her education in a rural school near her home and in the Denison Community High School, graduating there with the class of 1944. After high school, she attended nursing school. On January 30,1946, Bernadine was united in marriage to Wallace Deiber. The couple settled on a farm near Manilla and were blessed with the birth of two children. The family farmed near Manilla until 1965 when they moved to a farm near Buck Grove where they lived until Wallace died in 1983. In 1984, she moved to Denison.

In her leisure time, she and Wallace enjoyed polka dancing, socializing with family and friends, especially over lunches and dinners. Other leisure time activities Bernadine enjoyed were her childrens and grandchildrens sporting events and activities. In home, she could be found crocheting, quilting, working on jigsaw puzzles and listening to polka music. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and would attend various grandchildrens events with her sister, Vernetta. She was devoted to her Lord and Savior as a dedicated member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and volunteered her time at several activities in the church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wallace, one sister, Vernetta Hass and one brother, Sylvester Greder. Survivors include: two sons, Stanley and his wife, Debbie; Terry and his wife, Judy; five grandchildren, Randy; Becky and her husband, Jeremiah; Kelly and her husband, Scott; Kristie and her husband, Mike; Dan and his special friend Candace.; seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Vernon and his wife, Marie of Buck Grove; and one sister-in-law, Lois of Denison; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
