Bertha Neumann

Bertha Sophia Neumann was born April 12, 1921, the daughter of William and Maria Thies. She died at her home, Sunday, December 6, 2015 at the age of ninety-four.
Bertha was born in Denison, Iowa. She was baptized May 8, 1921 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and later confirmed there on April 14, 1935. On October 9, 1938, she was united in marriage to Carl Neumann. The couple made their home on Carl’s family farm, where Bertha remained until the time of her death. They were blessed with the birth of nine children.
Bertha was a devoted member of Zion Lutheran Church. She was a gentle, kind, God fearing mother and grandmother whose family was everything to her. She kept busy with gardening, canning, crocheting, sewing and braiding bailing twine for craft projects. She enjoyed making Christmas ornaments for her family and playing cards with her family and friends.
Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Carl in 1979; her parents; granddaughter, Rene ; three great-grandchildren: Freddie, Karlin, and Mya; siblings: Edna and her husband, LeRoy; Emma and her husband, Albert; Ella; Walter; Anna and her husband, Marvin; son-in-law, Wayne. Survivors include her nine children: Kenneth and his wife, Joyce; Frederick and his wife, Rodonna; William and his wife, Beth; Carolyn; Katherine; Coleen and her husband, James; Karlen and her husband, Russell; Maxine and her husband, Steve; Dale and his wife, Maureen; thirty-three grandchildren; eighty-six great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law; Joyce and Liz; many other relatives and friends.
