Betty Lea Hoffmeier was born December 17, 1924, the daughter of Phillip and Minnie Hast Didier. She passed away Thursday April 18, 2013, at the Reed House in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 88.
Betty was born in Buck Grove, Iowa. She was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Buck Grove on October 30, 1938, and later confirmed there. Betty was united in marriage to Walter Hoffmeier on December 19, 1941, at the St. John Parsonage in Buck Grove and to this union was born six children.
Betty was a strong but gentle and sweet woman. She had many heartaches in her life but her strong faith in her Lord and Savior saw her through and she knew she would always be taken care of. She took great pleasure in watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play. Betty was an avid reader and in her earlier years she enjoyed gardening, canning her produce, and taking care of her flowers. She was a good cook and everyone looked forward to her fudge candy. In her spare time Betty would watch The Waltons, Full House, game shows, and comedies on television. Betty was a life-long member of Buck Grove Lutheran Church until is closed and then she joined Our Savior Lutheran in Denison.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Walter in 1984; three sons, Donald in 1960; Allen in 1954; and Delbert in 1980; one daughter, Linda Kaub in 2000; and one sister, Marion Hoffmeier and her husband, Ralph. Survivors include two sons, Ken Hoffmeier of Ames, Iowa; and James Buck Hoffmeier and his wife, Kim of Charter Oak; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Phil Didier and his wife, Norene of Denison; and one sister, Donna Brink of Arkansas; other relatives and friends.
