Betty L. Teneyck

February 28, 1937 — August 23, 2016

Betty Lucille TenEyck was born February 28, 1937, the daughter of Charles and Leona Beerman. She died Tuesday, August 23, 2016, at the Burgess Health Center in Onawa, Iowa, at the age of seventy-nine.
Betty was born in St. James, Missouri and was baptized into the Presbyterian faith in Vail, Iowa. She grew up in the Exira, Manning and Dow City areas, receiving her education in the Dow City Community School. On October 16, 1952, Betty was united in marriage to Darrel TenEyck in Fremont, Nebraska and was blessed with the birth of four children. During her life she took great pride in being a homemaker but was employed at many places including Chano Egg, Farmland Foods, Marymaids in Omaha, Oak’s Caf in Charter Oak, Hawkeye Bar in Mapleton, Schrank’s Bar and Grill in Danbury and was a caregiver for her parents for many years.
Betty loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren beyond words. She loved to cook and had an open door for anyone and most of the time a stove full of food. If it wasn’t ready give her a few minutes and she’d have a feast. She was a friend to many, Grandma to all. She also enjoyed socializing and telling stories. Betty was known to have a cure for all ailments and no spot was safe from her. She could get the dirtiest whites clean with a little shout and elbow grease.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son, John; one grandson, Jeremy; one great-grandson, Trevor; four brothers, Dalton and Charles; and two in infancy; one sister, Bonnie and one brother-in-law, Maynard. Survivors include: one son, Chuck and his wife, Charlene; two daughters: Judy and her husband, Dave, and Corrine and friend, Ardell; twelve grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Adelyn; one brother, Edwin and his wife, Carol; one sister-in-law, Donna; other relatives and friends.
