Betty Lambert

Betty Lorraine Lambert was born December 30, 1924, the daughter of Harry and Mary Nelson Argotsinger. She passed away Monday, March 19, 2012, at the Reed House in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 87.
Betty was born in Dow City, Iowa. She received her education in a country school near her home and graduated from Dow City High School with the class of 1943. She taught in rural schools near Dow City. On February 8, 1945, she was united in marriage to Max Lambert. The couple farmed near Dow City, Iowa, and were blessed with the birth of four children. She was a substitute teacher for elementary and junior high school. In the 70s Betty began working as a teachers assistant in the Dow City Community Schools.
Betty was a great reader and loved teaching and working with children. Her grandchildren will always remember the stories and poems she read to them. Betty enjoyed baking bread and cookies for her family and friends and was well known for the dinner rolls she made for the Alumni Banquet in Dow City and other functions. She also liked to sew and make quilts, figure out crossword puzzles, and play Scrabble. Betty loved to paint and created several paintings which decorated the halls of the Reed House while she lived there. When watching television, her favorite programs included Lawrence Welk, documentaries, and the History channel. Betty was an active member of the Community of Christ Church in Dow City and enjoyed church activities.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Max in 2003; and two brothers, Vincent and Eldon. She is survived by three daughters: Carol and her husband, Randall; Bonnie; Rosanne and her husband, Joseph; one son, Jerry and his wife, Susan; five grandchildren: Brian, Hilary, Patrick, Molly, and Tess; two great-grandchildren, Aiden and Benjamin; other relatives and friends.
