Beverly "Joan" Miller

Beverly Joan Miller was born February 21, 1931, the daughter of William and Elva Ruth Kelly Kuntzweiler Jr. She died December 3, 2009, at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of seventy-eight.
Joan was born in Stuart, Iowa. She grew up around Audubon, Iowa, where she received her education and graduated from Audubon High School in 1949. On July 17, 1949, she was united in marriage to Jack Morris Miller at the Church of Christ in Audubon.
She moved to Denison in 1972, where she found her love of working as a childcare provider from her home over the span of 25 years and became a grandmother to all of her children and touched the lives of their families.
She was a loving mother and grandmother who cared for her family and the children of other families in the daycare business. Joan was a beloved babysitter to many. She cared for three generations of children and continued corresponding with many of them.
Joan also worked as a waitress at Jo Mart Steakhouse in Denison for ten years until the business closed. She made many lasting friendships which she cherished over the years through her time at Jo Mart.
Her hobbies and interests included reading and bird watching. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching tennis and basketball on TV. Joan always had a smile on her face, and her charming and witty personality and unique sense of humor were loved by all.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents and her two little brothers, Darrell Dean and Darwin Lee. She is survived by her three daughters: Lynn Nielsen of Plant City, Florida; Lonnie Valentine and her husband, Ron of Schleswig; and Leah Preul and her husband, Terry of Denison; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
