Beverly E. Kracht

Beverly Ermil Kracht was born on December 31, 1936, the daughter of Wallace and Mary (Turner) Saunders on a farm in the Nishnabotny Township near Manilla, Iowa. She attended a country school for grades kindergarten through fourth grade and then transferred to the Manilla Community School.

Beverly married Stanley Kracht in Jackson, Minnesota on July 15, 1955, and together had two children: Valerie Ann and Treva Sue. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and the American Legion Auxiliary of Manilla for over 60 years. She worked at Kervins Department Store in Columbus, Georgia, as an Avon Sales Representative, worked for Montgomery Wards, First National Bank, Stan's Body Shop/Stan's Auto Sales, and most recently as a greeter at Wal-Mart.

She enjoyed square dancing, camping and golfing. She loved trips to Sloan and getting to know new people. She cherished spending time with her grandchildren. She was a huge supporter of her grandchildren's activities. She enjoyed collecting stuffed animals and t-shirts from various places. She will be remembered for making homemade frozen sweet corn, apple pie and brownies for her family. She never missed sending a card to her loved ones for their special occasions.

Beverly passed away, surrounded by her family, on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital attaining the age of 85 years, six months and two days.

Bev was preceded in death by her parents and siblings: Fredrick (Jessie) Saunders, Wallace (Darlene) Saunders, Homer Saunders, and Wayne (Barb) Saunders. She is survived by her two daughters: Valerie (Tom) Finley of Johnston and Treva Bassett of Waukee; four grandchildren: Jason (Bianca) Finley of Altoona, Michael (Megan) Finley of Altoona, Thomas (Jagu) Bassett of Champaign, Illinois, and Jasmine Bassett of Chicago, Illinois; five great-grandchildren: Ryan, Benjamin, Jonathan, Aiyana and Avyan; and many other relatives and friends.

A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2022, at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison with a graveside service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens also in Denison. Memorials may be directed to the family.
