Bruce D. Rogers

November 14, 1953 — April 11, 2018

Bruce David Rogers was born November 14, 1953, in Geneseo, Illinois, and passed away peacefully with both his daughters by his side April 11, 2018, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of sixty-four. He grew up in Denison, Iowa, and was a member of the class of 1972. Bruce was united in marriage to Arlene Jensen on November 18, 1972, and they were blessed with two daughters, Christene and Angela.
Bruce worked many jobs in his life, some of those included Big C Lumber, construction, truck driver, owned North Main Tap, American and National Protein Companies, grounds keeper for Schleswig and the M & M Golf Courses, Barnett and Kragel, FAC and the City of Schleswig. He was fortunate to live in many areas of the United States including Arizona, California, Virginia, South Carolina and then settled back here in Iowa.
Bruce enjoyed spending time with his buddies fishing and playing cards in his early years and then he fell in love with the game of golf. He loved spending most of his days out on a golf course wherever he was! He was a huge Nebraska Cornhusker fan! Some years it was difficult, but he continued to root for them ‘til the end.
Aside from golfing, his hobbies over the years included playing slow pitch softball, going on vacations, gambling, singing karaoke, reading books (especially John Grisham), watching The Voice and Two and a Half Men. He took great pride in cooking for others, especially for Chloe because she loved everything he made and nobody could make it like Grandpa. He was a proud Grandpa to both Colton and Chloe and was happy to see Colton has his same sense of adventure and is pursuing his dreams.
Bruce enjoyed riding around with the guys and doing whatever projects they would come up with for him to do. There weren’t too many things he couldn’t fix for people. He lived a life full of good times shared with many great friends and family that he loved and cherished.
Bruce is preceded in death by his mother, Avis and his stepfather, Louis; his two sisters, Judy and Janet. Those left here to cherish memories with him are: his two daughters, Christene and Angela; two grandchildren, Colton and Chloe; his sister, Nancy and Bill; brother, Kevin and Isabelle; stepsister, Laurie; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; and many dear friends.
