Cecilia T. Nepple

Cecilia Theresa Nepple was born April 15, 1921, at Roselle, Iowa, the daughter of Anton and Frances Irlmeier. She passed away Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of ninety-seven.
Cecilia received her education in the Roselle, Iowa, school and was united in marriage to Herbert Nepple November 16, 1943, at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Roselle. They lived and farmed on the Nepple farm until moving in 1958 to a farm near Vail, Iowa. In 1973, the couple moved into Vail and after retirement in 1979, the couple made winter trips to Treasure Island, Florida.
Always a volunteer, Cecilia served Senior Citizens' meals into her mid-90's, was on the Vail Swimming Pool Board, helped with bingo and cards and was honored to have been named Vail Citizen of the Year. Ready to travel regardless of where they were going, Cecilia went rafting when she was in her 80's down the Arkansas River in Colorado. Working crossword puzzles, reading books–especially romance novels, card clubs–especially Euchre, and dancing in her younger years were her favorite pastimes. She also enjoyed watching Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Lawrence Welk and church mass on television. Cecilia loved to cook and bake with pie making being a specialty, particularly her sour cream raisin pie. Her family enjoyed the ham, turkey and several pies she would make for the holiday gatherings. Cecilia also found great pleasure in saying the rosary.
Cecilia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert in 2000; and one sister, Lorene. Survivors include: three sons, James and his wife, Jeannine, Gary, and Kenneth and his wife, Lisa; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marie, and Florence; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
