Charles F Moeller

Charles Frederick Moeller was born September 1, 1930, the son of George and Mina Moeller. He died at his home in Colorado Springs, Colorado, Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at the age of eighty-five.
Charles grew up in the Ricketts area and enjoyed spending time with his grandparents who owned a store where he enjoyed much candy. After completing his education in Crawford County, Charles enlisted in the US Marines in March of 1948. While in the service, one of his responsibilities included testing water for its suitability for ingestion. He served his country honorably during the North Korean Aggression from August 3, 1950 to November 2, 1950 and the Communist China Aggression form November 3, 1950 to May 9, 1951.While in the Marines, he was decorated with the Good Conduct Medal, Korean Service Ribbon, Army Distinguished Unit Citation, United Nations Service Ribbon and the Presidential Unit Citation. He was honorably discharged form the Marines March 22, 1952. As he entered the civilian work force, he was involved in trucking and HVAC.
He moved to Los Angeles, California where he served as sheriff for Los Angeles County from 1963 to 1980. He was united in marriage to Hwa Cha King on November 9, 1989. Golf was his passion and repeatedly scored in the low 80's for 18 holes and shot 5 holes in one during his golfing career. He was an excellent cook and was especially fond of dessert. His character is well defined by his strength in the face of three heart surgeries, and prostate cancer he battled for 22 years. He was a strong willed and tough man as he faced his health problems through the years. He was a handy man who could repair anything yet neat, clean and well groomed. He had a high regard for life and viewed life as a great trip.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Nick and Gary; two brothers, Gordon and Robert. He is survived by his wife, Hwa Cha; two children, Mark ;and Tammy and her fiance, Rod; three step-children, Monique and her husband, Rich; William King; Ed; one grandchild; two step grand-children; one step great-grandchild; one brother, Rick and his wife, Pat; two sisters, Georgene and her husband, Stan; and Joleen; one sister-in-law, Doris.
