Charles William Segebart was born June 29, 1935, the son of William and Marie Andresen Segebart. He passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa, at the age of seventy-five.
Charles was born in Manilla, Iowa. He was baptized in Christ on September 22, 1935, and confirmed on April 12, 1950, at Trinity Lutheran Church, in Manilla. He received his education in Manilla and graduated from Manilla High School in 1953.
On September 26, 1954, he was united in marriage to Carol Ann Gruhn at Zion Lutheran Church in Manning, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm in East Boyer and were blessed with the birth of two children. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from November 1954-1956 after which he returned home to farm until 1970. He then moved to Manilla and drove a tank wagon for Farm Service Coop until retiring in 1995. He remained in Manilla until purchasing a home and moving to Denison in the early 2000s.
Outdoor activities he enjoyed included hunting, trapshooting, and fishing, especially fishing in South Dakota. His interests also included sports. As an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs, he even traveled to some of their games.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include one son, Terry; one daughter, Becky and her husband, Joe; six grandchildren: Nikki, Joshua, Amanda and Jeremiah; Casey and Alexis; two great-grandchildren, Jarod and Justin; one brother, Dale and his wife, Mary; one sister, Carol and her husband, Ron; other relatives and friends.
