Charles Wilcox

Charles Joseph Wilcox, Jr. was born October 8, 1943, the son of Charles and Florence LaPorte Wilcox. He passed away Wednesday, December 25, 2013, at his home in Charter Oak, Iowa, at the age of 70.
Chuck was born in Los Angeles, California. He received his education in the Boston, Massachusetts Community Schools. After finishing his education, Chuck worked for a lamp manufacturer in Boston. It was in Boston Commons where he first met his future bride, Mary Sullivan. They were united in marriage on March 8, 1980, in Boston, and were blessed with the birth of three children.
In 1985 the family moved to Chicago, Illinois, and then Casper, Wyoming, in 1998, and finally settled in Charter Oak, Iowa, in 2004. He loved spending time with his family and especially his five grandsons and left his family with many comments they will remember as “Chuckisms.” He trained his family to be strong and to stand up for themselves and be supportive of each other and their families. Chuck was extremely proud of all his children and relished in their accomplishments.
Chuck would sometimes come off as rough around the edges, but his family knew he was a big softie. He enjoyed traveling fishing, gambling, working on his John Deere lawnmower, and his five little dachshunds.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Thomas, Michael, Stephen, and Dennis Wilcox. Survivors include his wife, Mary; three children: James and his wife, Chelsea Wilcox; Caitlyn Lavender and her husband, Nathan; and Lauren Wilcox; five grandsons: Grayson, Braxtyn, Cashten and Wrigley Wilcox; and Dallas Lavender; all of Charter Oak, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
