Clyde C. Mccollough

Clyde Clarion McCollough was born August 27, 1926, the son of Ray and Priscilla McCollough. He died Wednesday, October 26, 2016, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of ninety.
Clyde was born on a farm near Vail, Iowa, and received his education in a rural school near his home. He helped his family on the farm and started trucking at the age of eighteen but continued farming. He became a member of the Presbyterian Church in 1942. He was united in marriage to Jeanette Rank on June 2, 1951 at the Presbyterian Church in Clarinda, Iowa. He was inducted into the Army in August of 1951 and discharged in 1953. Upon his discharge he returned home to Iowa to continue farming. The couple made their home on a farm near Vail and was blessed with the birth of four children.
Clyde was a very loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who adored his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He cherished the family gatherings when all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren could attend. He had a kind but forth wright character and was set in his ways. He enjoyed country western music and traveled to see shows in Nashville. He and Jeanette wintered in Arizona and enjoyed nineteen years there, often taking collectibles to be sold at garage sales. Before retiring, he enjoyed raising cattle, sweet corn, tomatoes, and other gardening items. After retiring, he kept current FOLLOWING the markets by watching RFD TV. He enjoyed visiting the Metz Tractor Museum in Avoca, Iowa and various functions at AKSARBEN. Clyde was a collector of Allis Chalmers Tractors, hats, playing cards, blow torches, fox prints, depression glass and other collectables. He was a rock hound and occupied much of his leisure time polishing rocks for the jewelry that he made and working at the Senior Center in Arizona. In his younger years calling square dances and roller skating were events that he enjoyed. He served as a Deacon at the Presbyterian Church in Vail and on the church credit union, was a member of the Men’s Council, Diamond Lodge and the Collectors Club in Denison.
Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Dick, Harold and Earl and his wife, Mary Ann; four sisters, Pearl and her husband Pete, Violet and her husband Ev, Mary Alice and her husband Guy and Bonnie. Survivors include: his wife, Jeanette; three sons, David ; Steve and his wife, Connie and Bruce; one daughter, Lisa and her husband, Kenny; eleven grandchildren: Stephanie and her husband, Brad and their children, Makayla, Bret, Colter and Shayna; Stacie and her husband, Scot, and their children, Karlie, Ty, Laynie, Brandt and previously deceased son, Jake; Bradley and his wife, Tami and their children, Hallie, Aubrie, Dierk, Trace and Clay; Natalie and her husband, Ryan and their daughter Taryn; Philip and special friend Tina and his son, Taylor; Reggie and special friend Jen; Cody and his wife, Samantha and their children, Jaylynn and Jack; Nichole and her husband, Luke; Emily and her husband, Adam and their children, Audrey and Elle; Melissa and her husband, A.J. and their children, Leila and Paxton; and Adam; sisters-in-law: Eunice, Lois and Rita; two brothers-in-law: Gerald and Bob and his wife, Evelyn; many other relatives and friends
