Colene M. Kaiser

Colene Marie Kaiser was born November 25, 1950, at Denison, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Alma Denker. She passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017, at CHI Immanuel Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of sixty-six.
She was baptized in Christ December 24, 1950, and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison on March 22, 1964. Colene received her education in the Denison Community Schools, graduating with the class of 1968. She continued her education at Concordia College in Seward, Nebraska, receiving her teaching degree in 1972. It was there, at Concordia, where she met her future husband, Kurt Kaiser. On June 23, 1973, Colene and Kurt Kaiser were united in marriage at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison and they were blessed with the birth of five children.
Colene began her teaching career at St. Paul Lutheran School in Stover, Missouri, followed by teaching positions at Calvary Lutheran School in Kansas City, Immanuel Lutheran School in Klinger, Iowa, St. John’s Lutheran School in Charter Oak, and finally at Zion Lutheran School in Denison where she served as a teacher from 1978 until 2016. Teaching for more than 40 years, she taught first through fourth grades, but mainly kindergarten.
In her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing and altering dresses, costumes and coordinating outfits for her family, gardening – flowers and plants, and shopping at thrift stores and other bargain places. Colene encouraged her children in many endeavors, such as musicals, talent shows, 4-H, FFA, sports, academics, and most importantly, in the Christian faith. She was an excellent cook and baker, making amazing birthday and wedding cakes for her children and grandchildren. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Colene was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include: her husband, Rev. Kurt Kaiser; three sons, Rev. Seth Kaiser and wife, Kate; Rev. Ben Kaiser and wife, Kelli; and Dan Kaiser; two daughters, Rebekah and husband, Michael; and Elizabeth and husband, Brian; two sisters, Sharon and husband, Marc, and Julie and husband, Troy; two brothers, Dennis and wife, Deb and Larry; and six grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
