Connie Lou Wood was born March 19, 1949, at Dow City, Iowa, the daughter of George and Laura Houston. She passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017, at her home in Dow City, Iowa, at the age of sixty-eight.
Connie received her education in the Dow City Schools and was a 1967 graduate of Dow City High School. She continued her education at a college in Chicago where she received her Associate Degree in Nursing. Connie was employed at various hospitals and nursing homes as well as doing research at UCLA during the Aids epidemic.
She was united in marriage with Gregg Kapeluck and they were the parents of two children. Connie later married Ronald Wood May 30, 2004, at the Methodist Church in Dow City, Iowa.
Taking up fishing after her marriage to Ron, she enjoyed fishing around the local area and in Texas, Minnesota and California. She also enjoyed wintering in San Diego, bowling, going to the casino, reading books, watching Swamp People and John Wayne westerns. In her younger years, she was a cheerleader and particularly enjoyed basketball. Her hobbies included collecting, painting and making ceramic dolls and sewing their clothing.
Connie was preceded in death by her parents; ten brothers: Robert, Jack, Don, George, James, Eddie, Bill, Russell, Thomas and Jerry; six sisters: Margaret, Marian, Betty, Lois, Jane and Kay. Survivors include: her husband, Ronald; two sons, John and his wife, Vicki, and Michael and his wife, Kim; two stepchildren, Angela and her husband, Jim, and Ronald and his wife, Jodi; seven grandchildren; two brothers, Roger and his wife, Helen, and Ken and his wife, Rita; one sister, Helen; two sisters-in-law, Jeannette, and Barbara; one brother-in-law, Roger; other relatives and friends.
