Corrine Glee Bandow was born August 1, 1932, the daughter of Alwin and Lillian Aldag. She died at the Manilla Manor Nursing Home in Manilla, Iowa, Sunday, July 17, 2016 at the age of eighty-three.
Corrine was born on a farm near Westside, Iowa and grew up in Crawford County. She received her education in the Manilla Community Schools and graduated from the Manilla High School with the class of 1951. April 17, 1952, she was united in marriage to Gilbert Bandow in Zion Lutheran Church in Denison by Rev. C.W. Schmidt. The couple were blessed with the birth of three children. Gil was in the Air Force, based in Spokane, Washington so the couple settled there until he was stationed in French Morocco. After Gil left for over seas duty, Corrine returned to Iowa and the farm. She was employed by Dr. Boyd Merrick Vetinary Clinic where she was a technician involved in delivering pigs and other medical duties. She was a Red Cross volunteer and worked for the Department of Agriculture as a field agent for NASDA, collecting data for Iowa Agricultural Statistics. She loved horses and abandoned pets. Her hobbies include: refinishing furniture, antiques, photography, gardening, traveling, canning and playing cards, especially Euchre for which she entered in many tournaments. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed her leisure time socializing with her family and friends at home or on trips to Sloan. She loved to listen to KDSN’s Polka Parties and was a graceful ballroom dancer.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gil in 1999. Survivors include one daughter, Rhonda and her husband, Angelo; two sons, Kerry and Jeff; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Nola; Deanna and her husband, Merle; one sister-in-law, Arlene; other relatives and many friends.
