Dakotah Micheal Collins was born December 21, 1994 in Denison, Iowa to Tami Russmann and Kevin Collins. He passed away Tuesday July 8, 2014 in Milford, Iowa at the age of nineteen.
He was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dow City and received his first communion at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Denison, Iowa and was an active member there. Dakotah received his education at Denison High School, graduating with the class of 2013. He was attending college at Iowa Central in Fort Dodge, studying Criminal Justice. He worked for various local construction companies shingling roofs during the summer. Most currently he was working in Okoboji at several establishments as a server and bartender.
Dakotah was active in sports, medaling in wrestling, football, and track. He loved fishing in the Crawford County area or wherever he could find that "special pond." He enjoyed annual snowmobile trips to Laramie, Wyoming and summer trips to the Wisconsin Dells with his dad and brother, Ethan. Dakotah also valued time spent with family and friends, offering a smile to anyone, whether he knew them or not.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, David and an aunt, Barbara. Dakotah is survived by his mother, Tami; his father, Kevin; his girlfriend; four siblings, Ethan; Sierra; Dreyven; Brandon; grandparents, Roger and Mary Ann; Patricia and Lee; former foster family, Gail, Steve, Tyson, Brea, Chase, Cody, and Stevie; many relatives and countless friends.
