Dale Reed Kinney was born on August 20, 1944 in Denison, Iowa, the son of Reed and Evelyn (Andresen) Kinney. He was baptized on September 18, 1955 in Schleswig. When he was 16, he started his 40-year employment at Farm Best, later known as Farmland Foods.
On October 11, 1964, Dale was united in marriage to Faye Friedrichsen in Denison. To this union, they were blessed with two daughters: Kelly and Brandy. They made their home in Deloit and the couple later divorced. Dale was blessed with a second marriage to Penny Olson on April 20, 1991 at the United Presbyterian Church in Denison. Through this union, Dale gained a third daughter, Amanda. The family made their home in Denison.
Dale was a longtime faithful member of the United Presbyterian Church in Denison. He was an avid wood maker. He enjoyed going deer hunting, watching NASCAR, tending to his gardens and in his earlier years, fishing. He also was fond of watching all the wildlife in his backyard. Above all, he cherished his family more than anything.
Dale passed away unexpectedly at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, attaining the age of 78 years, 9 months, and 11 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenneth Kinney; sister, Sharon Riley; parents-in-law, Warren and Alice Olson; and great-grandson, Iziah Jon.
He is survived by his loving wife, Penny Kinney of Denison; three daughters: Kelly and her husband Alan Weltz of Denison, Brandy Kinney of Grimes, and Amanda and her husband Dathan Loger of Odebolt; grandchildren: Ashley and her husband Derek Swanson of Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, Kelsey Weltz of Carroll, Curtis Pullen and his wife Jessica of Exira, Hollie Weltz and her significant other Colin Krajicek of Deloit, Lexus and her husband Jered Head of Dow City, Madisen VanHove of Orange City, Caleigh Loger, Jagger Loger, Hogan Loger, and Gennar Loger, all of Odebolt; great-grandchildren: Maddy, Matthew, Rockford, Hendrick, Harper, Kingston, Trevan, Aspen, Ryker, Kaysen, and Casey; brother, Donald "Butch" Kinney and his wife Laura Faye of Vail; brothers-in-law, Gerald Riley of Whiting and Eric Olson and his wife Rev. Jennifer Olson of Storm Lake; sisters-in-law, Shirley Kinney of Anchorage, Alaska, Karen and her husband Steve Schaben of Denison, and Abby and her husband Bob Hull of Ottawa, Kansas; many other relatives and friends.
Visitation with family greeting friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 5, 2023 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Denison. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at the United Presbyterian Church in Denison with burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery in Denison. Memorials may be directed to the United Presbyterian Church in Denison.
