Daniel Wayne Hamilton was born August 25, 1946, the son of Otis and Betty Landrum Hamilton. He passed away Sunday, April 28, 2013, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 66.
Daniel was born in Kansas City, Kansas. He spent his childhood growing up in Gashland and Gladstone, Missouri. He received his education in the North Kansas City, Missouri Schools graduating with the class of 1965. Daniel enlisted in the U.S. Army in January 1966 and served in Vietnam until 1967. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1972.
One February 13, 1971, Daniel was united in marriage to Blanche Marie Smithmier and to this union was born two children, a son Cary and a daughter Danielle. Dan worked at Mo. Pacific Truck Lines until moving to Denison, Iowa, in November 1979 when he became employed by Farmland Foods as a shag driver. He retired in 2008 and has since enjoyed golfing and fishing with his son and grandsons. Dan also liked to cook and plan meals for his wife, Marie.
Daniel was preceded in death by his father, Otis; and his parents-in-law, Henry and Alice Smithmier. He leaves behind his wife, Marie of Denison; his son, Cary Hamilton and wife, Leatha of Sargent Bluff, Iowa; his daughter, Danielle and her friend Becky of Sioux City, Iowa; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; his mother, Betty Hamilton; and his brother, Randy Hamilton; both of Kansas City, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
