Darlene was born in Denison, Iowa, attending rural school in her early education and received her GED. In 1965 the couple moved to Denison where she worked at Farmland Foods and the Crawford County Memorial Hospital.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Dedicating her life to her family she found joy in providing for them. She loved to bake cookies and can pickles and tomatoes. She also enjoyed spending time outside watching birds, fishing, camping, and gardening flowers and vegetables. She loved to sit and visit with family and friends over a cup of coffee, and reminisce about the past and dances at the Columbia Hall. Other activities she enjoyed included crocheting, traveling, and listening to old time music favorites.
