Darold M Kahl

Darold Marvin Kahl was born April 4, 1942, the son of Marvin Dethlef Kahl and Lucinda Lena Rath. He died Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of seventy-three.
Darold was born at the Denison Hospital in Crawford County, Iowa. He was baptized in Christ, May 17, 1942, at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison by Rev. C.W. Schmidt. On March 25, 1956, Darold was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Charter Oak. He received his education at various country schools and graduated May 12, 1960, from the Charter Oak Community High School. After graduation, Darold entered Iowa National Guard in Denison for 6 years. He began working in the construction business with various contractors, before starting his own business of Kahl Construction in 1977.
On June 25, 1966, Darold was united in marriage to Karen Bohlmann at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church by Rev. E.T. Lange, making their first home in Charter Oak. In 1968, they purchased an acreage near Denison and were blessed with the birth of two children. His love for construction never ceased, including building his two children’s homes in his spare time. After semi-retirement in 2004, Darold continued doing repair work, including his own acreage, where he lived for 47 years.
Darold was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. He was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather who enjoyed his family very much. Darold truly enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and fishing in his pond. He spent many hours in his shop, always repairing and trying to make things work better.
Darold was preceded in death by his parents and one brother in infancy. Survivors include his loving wife, Karen of 49 years; two children: Gary and his wife, Kathy; Shelly and her husband, Bradley; four grandchildren: Coltin and Justin; Tyler and Megan; three sisters: Janice and her husband, Daniel; Linda; Leola; one sister-in-law, Karla and her husband,John; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
