David Daniel Homolka

David Daniel Homolka, the son of Pauline (Mohn) Schneider was born on September 2, 1982 in Grand Island, Nebraska. David received his education from Woodbine Elementary School through the third grade and then moved to Charter Oak where he graduated with the class of 2001. Following high school, he took classes at Job Corps for apartment maintenance.

David married Melanie Huisinga on December 31, 2014 at the Crawford County courthouse. He worked a variety of different jobs, a couple of his most recent being a heavy equipment operator in Arcadia and a tow truck driver.

David enjoyed fishing in his younger years. He could be found tinkering around, always trying to fix things. He enjoyed spending time in the country and driving on the gravel roads, as well as socializing with friends. Above all he enjoyed spending time with his wife, Melanie, his son, Calvin and his step-children.

David passed away at home in Denison on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 at the age of 40 years, five months and six days.

David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alfred and Ruth Mohn. He is survived by his wife, Melanie Homolka of Denison; one son: Calvin Homolka of Charter Oak; four stepchildren; mother, Pauline Schneider of Charter Oak; two brothers: Jeremy Homolka of Nebraska City, Nebraska and Brad Homolka of Perry; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert and Cindy Huisinga of Denison: several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life on Sunday, April 23, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Charter Oak Community Building.
