David Groff Mohler was born on July 8, 1941, to Lester Eugene and Adeline Gertrude (Kaiser) Mohler in Berwyn, Illinois and grew up in Lyons, Illinois. He was baptized into the Lutheran faith. David received his education from Walther Lutheran High School in Melrose Park, Illinois and graduated with the class of 1963. He then went to Concordia Lutheran College and graduated with a bachelor's degree in education.
David moved to Paramus, New Jersey and started teaching at a Lutheran elementary school for many years. He then moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he worked as an assistant principal. He also helped out at the schools with playing the piano for special music programs. After a number of years, he then moved to Denison, Iowa where he taught elementary education at Zion Lutheran Schools. He retired from teaching after 38 years.
David was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. He was an avid Chicago sports fan. He also enjoyed visiting national parks to see their wildlife.
David passed away on Thursday, April 20, 2023, at MercyOne Siouxland Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa, at the age of 81 years, nine months and 12 days.
David was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Fredricks of Denison and brother, Paul Mohler of Palatine, Illinois; and other friends.
