Mr. Dean Alan Gottsch, 81, of O'Fallon, MO, formerly of Westside and Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away on September 24, 2022 at SSM- Lake St. Louis, on what would have been his parents' 92nd wedding anniversary. He was born on March 5, 1941 in Carroll, Iowa to Gilmore Otto and Hilda Anna (Schneller) Gottsch. Dean attended the local schools along with his three brothers, graduating from Ar-We-Va High School in 1959. He served his country in the Air National Guard from 1963 to 1969 and was honorably discharged. He was introduced to Linda Clare (Peterson) on a blind date and they were later married on October 16, 1965 in Denison, Iowa. To this union were born; Deanna Kay, Charlotte Rena, Angela Ann, Donda Jean and Aaron Jon. The Gottschs raised their family in Storm Lake, Iowa. During high school, Dean started working in a meat packing plant and went on to become a USDA meat inspector for over 14 years. Dean was an incredibly hard worker, and many times would work during the week at one job and then farm on the weekends and after work. Dean and Linda enjoyed antiquing, eating out, and traveling together. Their happiest times were spent with family, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They moved to O'Fallon, MO in 2006 to be closer to family. They are faithful members of First Assembly of God Church in Troy, MO. Dean was a Christian first and foremost, and raised his family in the church. He could be described as tender-hearted, gentle, playful, and a lover of a good joke. Dean will be sadly missed and long remembered by all those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Linda Gottsch of O'Fallon, MO, children, Deanna Kay Gottsch of O'Fallon, Charlotte Rena Gottsch of O'Fallon, Angela Ann (Brian) Grindstaff of O'Fallon, Donda Jean Gottsch of O'Fallon, Aaron Jon (Debbie) Gottsch of O'Fallon, grandchildren, Emma Rogers, Michael Lowe, Maggie Rogers, John Grindstaff, Joel Grindstaff, Alyssa Grindstaff, Anna Grindstaff, Mitchell Booth, Grant Booth, Madison Gottsch and Katelyn Gottsch, great-grandchildren, Tarin Rogers, Theo Rogers and one-on-the way, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson, Timothy Brian Grindstaff and three brothers, Delbert, Dale and Donald Gottsch.
Visitation will be held on Wed. Sept. 28, 2022 from 10:30 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. at Troy First Assembly of God Troy, MO
Funeral - also on Wednesday Sept. 28, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at Troy First Assembly of God Troy, MO Pastor Joseph Britain to officiate.
Graveside Service with Military Honors will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022 in the Westside Cemetery in Westside.
