Debra Ann Aldag was born March 11, 1958, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the daughter of Robert and Audrey Berthelsen. She passed away unexpectedly Thursday, August 8, 2019, at her rural Schleswig, Iowa, home at the age of sixty-one.
Deb was baptized in Christ and later confirmed her faith in her Lord and Savior. She received her education at South East Lincoln in Nebraska and graduated with the class of 1976. She continued her education and graduated from Dana College in Blair, Nebraska, where she met her future husband. Deb and Bruce Aldag were united in marriage May 18, 1979, at Sheridan Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Nebraska. The couple moved to the farm north of Schleswig where Deb babysat local children and also worked as a dental assistant in Ida Grove. In 1989, she began her 30-year career as the social worker at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison where she was still employed.
A faithful member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Kiron, Deb was currently on the church council. Being very social, she was involved with the Book Club, enjoyed golfing and loved to travel in her leisure time. Deb was extremely caring and compassionate, not only with her family, friends and co-workers, but also with the many Eventide residents and their families that she came to know. She adored her two grandsons, Ian age 7 and Mason age 4 and loved spending time with them.
