Debra Rae Braasch was born June 22, 1964, in Denison, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth and Darlene Braasch. She died Wednesday, February 22, 2017, at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa, at the age of fifty-two.
Debra received her education in the Denison Community Schools and was a 1982 graduate of Denison High School. She was employed at various jobs throughout her life including the following: a server at Joannie’s in Deloit, the Rib Cage Restaurant, United Parcel Service, Jolene Grau’s Boutique, modeling, Wesco Industries, and as a flagger for road construction.
Her life revolved around racing. Her motto was “I don’t chase boys, I pass them”. She raced #22T in Sioux City and Boone Nationals and at the Crawford County Speedway where she was a track champion in 2012. She worked for the race track, worked on her own cars and grew up in the racing community. She was fashionably late for everything except races. Debra loved animals, wild and domestic, and was able to communicate with them. She was a storyteller and a prankster who enjoyed making people laugh. Flying her kite around the Deloit Cemetery, fishing and trapping, listening to country music and socializing with family and friends were her favorite things to do. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
Debra was preceded in death by her parents, Kenny and Darlene; son, Trevor; father-in-law, John; and brother-in-law, Jeremy. Survivors include her husband of 21 years Jeff ; three daughters, Kinsey; Teja and Jeffi both of Ute; two grandchildren, Natasha and Damian; brother, Kevin; and sister, Kelly and husband, Craig ; nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.
