Delores Hiller

Delores Maxine Hiller was born in Denison, Iowa on October 12, 1930, the daughter of Louis and Emma Mueller. She was called home to be with her Lord Jesus October 26, 2013 at Maple Heights Nursing Home in Mapleton, Iowa at the age of 83.
Dee was baptized on November 9, 1930 and confirmed on April 2, 1944 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison. Dee graduated from Denison High School in 1948 and was employed as a stenographer for Page and Nash Attorneys and also for Attorney E. A. Norelius.
Dee was united in marriage to Earl Hiller on July 14, 1949 at Zion Lutheran Church. They resided near El Toro Air Station, California, until Earl was discharged from the U.S. Marine Corps in 1950.
Dee and Earl settled on a farm in the Dunlap area until moving to the Hiller farm west of Charter Oak. They moved to Charter Oak in 1956 and owned and operated Earl’s Recreation and Earl’s Lanes and Cafe. They later sold the businesses, and Dee was a clerk at the Crawford County Treasurer’s Office. Dee and Earl returned to the Hiller farm in 1967 until they moved to Ute in 1979. Dee served as secretary for Pastor Prouty at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Charter Oak and also worked at the Hoffman Agency in Charter Oak until her retirement in 1993.
Dee and Earl enjoyed camping at Swan Lake and Lake View with several of their Charter Oak friends. They eventually purchased a home at Dixieland Park in Lake View and also spent many winters in Florida and Texas. Dee and Earl moved to Lynnwood Estates in Glenwood in 2009, and Dee entered Maple Heights Nursing home in 2011. Dee spent her life studying and sharing the Good News of Jesus.
Dee was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Earl, three brothers, Clarence, Marvin, Loyal and an infant sister; two sisters-in-law, Eleanore Miller and Sandra Hiller; one brother-in-law, Karl Mantey; and two great-grandchildren, Andrew Lauby and Charles Hiller. Survivors include two sons, Barry and his wife Patricia of Glenwood, and Tom and his wife Jean of Urbandale; two grandchildren, Melissa Hiller Lauby and her husband Todd and their son, Jacob of San Diego, California; Brett Hiller and his wife Ranita and their daughters, Jenna and Abigail of Glenwood; and two sister-in-laws, Lucille Miller of Oskaloosa and Betty Mantey of Wilmington, North Carolina; plus many other relatives and friends.
