Dennis Bell

Dennis Gene Bell was born December 12, 1945, the son of Robert and Violet Stripe Bell. He passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at the Denison Care Center in Denison, Iowa, at the age of 67.
Dennis was born in Des Moines, Iowa. He received his education at East High in Des Moines. Following graduation he enlisted in the Air Force from 1964 to 1969, and proudly served his country. He was Stationed in Misawa, Japan and he attended Syracuse University to learn to read, write and speak Russian. On June 28, 1970 he was united in marriage to Mary Coleman. The couple was blessed with the birth of two children, Rebecca and Greg.
Dennis started at Farm Bureau Financial Services in 1972, in Iowa City, Iowa. In 1975, he went to North Platte, Nebraska as a division manager, and in 1979 went to Grand Island, Nebraska. In 1981, he moved to Storm Lake and, while there, was promoted to Director of Agencies. In 1988, he moved to Denison and became a Manager and then Career Agent. He retired in 2007 after 35 years of employment. He was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Board of Directors at Wesco, and he helped start the Aktion Club. He enjoyed cooking, fishing, hunting, golfing, and boating at Storm Lake, where he lived for 6 years.
Dennis optimism and kindheartedness overflowed to his children. He was active in Gregs sports including baseball and soccer. His beaming smile and positive attitude were contagious. Win or lose, he was always a winner in the eyes of the Lord, and he tried to share that with his children.
His strong faith was evident every day of his life making him a great role model of morals and values to everyone around him. He was an active member in every church he attended, and his faith gave him the confidence to sing and speak. He never questioned the will of God. His selfless nature and proud and positive attitude made him a great father and grandfather. He was a man of class who provided the best for his family.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Mary of Denison; one daughter, Rebecca Bell of Denison; one son, Greg Bell and his wife, Audrey of Polk City, Iowa; three granddaughters, Abby, Eden, and Brooke Bell; and two brothers, Charlie Bell and his wife, Linda of Venice, Florida; and Vaughn Bell and his wife, Carolyn of Des Moines, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
