Dewey L. Reis

Dewey Lynn Reis, Jr. was born May 11, 1941, at Woodbine, Iowa, the son of Dewey Reis, Sr. and Vivian Reis. He passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, at the age of seventy-seven.
Dewey was baptized in Christ at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, Iowa, April 29, 1950, and later confirmed his faith there April 3, 1955. He received his education in the Denison Community Schools and graduated from Denison High School with the class of 1959.
Having previously met at a polka dance, Dewey and Sharon Albertsen were united in marriage March 17, 1962 at Zion Lutheran Church in Denison, officiated by Rev. C.W. Schmidt. The couple made their home on the farm near Denison. Dewey farmed most of his life and also started crop adjusting in the early 1990's, working for several companies where he adapted well to technology as it changed.
Dewey enjoyed carpentry and mechanical work and helped construct their current home as well as helping build neighboring homes. He also enjoyed metal art and gave wood and metal art creations to his grandchildren. Restoring tractors and making things from tractor parts and welding them also brought him great pleasure. He always had to do something productive. Fishing with his grandsons and listening to polka and concertina music were favorite pastimes.
Preceding him in death were his parents; infant son, Andrew; three sisters and their spouses: Enid, Emma Lee and Bonita; two brothers and their spouses: Wallace and Richard. Survivors include: his wife, Sharon; two sons, Dudley and his wife, Donna, and Darwin and his wife, Lisa; two daughters, Pamela and her husband, Karl, and Jennifer and her husband, Scott; fifteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and expecting two more; other relatives and friends.
