Diana Lynn Varner was born March 4, 1959, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Donald Brown, Sr. and Viola Brown. She passed away Friday, November 22, 2019, at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa, at the age of sixty.
Diana received her education at Denison High School and then continued her education at the Denison Job Corps. On September 17, 1984, Diana was united in marriage to Randy Varner, Sr. in Dumas, Texas. Although being a homemaker most of her life, she was employed at differnet packing houses in Kansas and Texas, worked at Hardees and took on many babysitting jobs.
Socializing at the casino, knitting, playing Bingo, traveling, and camping were her favorite pastimes. Diana was also an avid collector of Indian items and Native keepsakes. She enjoyed cooking and will be especially remembered for her homemade noodles, pizza and enchiladas. Diana absolutely loved getting all the family together to socialize and have barbeques and enjoyed playing games with her kids and grandkids, especially Yahtzee. Many many evenings full of belly laughter. Having a very infectious laugh and a smile that could light up a room, Diana had a true mama bear attitude. However, she always tried to find the good in everyone or any situation. She loved animals, especially her dogs “Jack” and “Daisey May”, her cat “Tinkerbell” and horses. Diana enjoyed listening to Elvis, Cher, country and classic rock music and attending concerts. Television was also entertaining for her and she liked watching Real Housewives of Orange County, Atlanta, Ghost Adventures, Ghost Hunters, Alaska Bush People and Born This Way, a realty show. Her favorite football team was the San Francisco 49'ers.
Diana was preceded in death by her father; three grandchildren, Joshua, Kylee and DeSaray; and two sisters, Vickey and Margie, as an infant. Survivors include: her husband, Randy Sr.; two daughters, Aimee and her husband, Christopher, and Angela Maria; two sons, Randy, Jr., and Oscar and his wife, Amanda; four grandchildren, Dylan, Rianna, Rhya and Jase, with one more expected in July; her mother, Viola; two brothers, Rick and Donald; other relatives and friends.
