Diane L. Riessen

Diane Louise Riessen was born May 18, 1955 to the late Marvin and Erma (Jensen) Neumann in Denison, Iowa. She was baptized on June 12, 1955 and later confirmed her faith on March 30, 1969 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kiron, Iowa. She received her education from Kiron Elementary and Denison High School.

On July 20, 1996, Diane was united in marriage to Bradley Riessen. To this union, Brad welcomed Diane's two children: Melissa and Cody with open arms.

From Boyer River Rat, June Bug, Old Bag, Mama, Dianimal, and Hot Rod Diane to versions of Roonie, Diane built many fun-loving memories with family and friends. Raised on a farm, she was a natural hard worker who wasn't afraid to get dirty. She was a nature lover and loved the freedom of the great outdoors and all that went with it. She was an animal lover at heart, her pride and joy being with her horses, where she, siblings and cousins rode for endless hours and miles.

She was an avid and passionate gardener. She was a fashionista who loved jewelry and clothes, antiques and bargain-hunting and had a natural talent for home remodeling, decorating and crafting. Her soul became alive when on the Harley or jamming to rock and blues music.

Her passions rose for sports and game shows, often cheering on her grandkids' Tiger teams, favorite players on various teams, the Hawkeyes or Cyclones (so long as it wasn't against the Hawkeyes) or for the Broncos or Vikings (thanks to the Wentzel clan). With her giant smile and giving heart, no matter where or for who, Diane was full of friendship, compassion and generosity to those around her.

Diane passed away on Monday, May 17, 2021 at her home in Ricketts attaining the age of sixty-five years, eleven months and twenty-nine days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister: Shirley and brother: Kenneth.

Left to cherish her memory, her husband: Brad Riessen of Ricketts; children: Melissa and her husband Dave Wentzel of Albert Lea, Minnesota and Cody Johnson and his husband Morris Goodwin of Saint Paul, Minnesota; grandchildren: Cole, Lily and Luke Wentzel all of Albert Lea, Minnesota; brother: Jim Neumann and his wife Kandra of Kiron; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation is 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, May 21, 2021 at the Huebner Funeral Home in Schleswig. Funeral Service is 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Schleswig. Interment is in Morgan Cemetery in Schleswig. Memorials may be directed to the family.
