Diane M. Coenen

Diane Marie Coenen was born May 22, 1966, at Defiance, Iowa, the daughter of Ivo and Bernadine Coenen. She passed away Wednesday, September 27, 2017, at her home in Harlan, Iowa, at the age of fifty-one.
Diane was baptized at St. Peter’s Church in Defiance and was a member of St. Michael’s Church in Harlan. She received her education in the area schools and graduated midterm in 1985 from Manilla High School before being employed in Denison at WESCO cleaning, at Pizza Hut, Breadeaux and Trio Caf washing dishes and waitressing. Diane lived in Denison, Iowa, for ten years before moving back to Harlan where she cared for her parents.
She enjoyed watching television especially The Waltons, Little House on the Prairie, and Wheel of Fortune at which she was especially good at guessing the words. Watching the Young and the Restless and other soaps as well as Iowa State football and basketball and listening to music of the 70's and 80's were also her favorite pastimes. She loved to bake blueberry muffins for her mother and baking cookies and making candies at Christmas, giving a plate to everyone.
Diane was preceded in death by her father Ivo, one brother, Darrell and one great-nephew Lucas Shelton. Survivors include: her mother, Bernadine; two brothers, Randal and his wife, Lila, and Robert and his wife, Melanie of Denison, Iowa; one sister, Nancy Renze and her husband, Jeff; four nephews, Russell and his wife, Penni, and Ryan Coenen, Brian and his wife Kelsey, and Trevor Koenck; two nieces, Rachel, and Kristy and husband Josh; three great-nephews,Triston, Jayden and Jett; and three great-nieces, Kia, Madison and Caleigh; other relatives and friends.
