Dick J. Weatherman

July 21, 1947 — July 3, 2018

Dick J. Weatherman was born July 21st, 1947 in Conrad, Iowa, and passed away July 3rd, 2018 at the age of seventy years at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.
Dick was born to DeVee and Richard Weatherman in Conrad, Iowa. He attended Beaman-Conrad schools graduating in 1965. He was an avid wrestler in high school and continued to follow the sport throughout his life. He attended college at Central Missouri State and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. During college, Dick entered the Army and served in the Vietnam War during 1967-1968. He was honorably discharged in 1973.
In 1975 he began his Ag chemical sales career with Ciba-Geigy in Denison, Iowa. He continued in this role and later became a Territory Manager for Stauffer and later Rosen’s Inc., until his disability retirement in 2004. While in Denison, he was united in marriage to Marilyn Clausen in 1977. They were blessed with two sons, Derek and Ty.
Dick loved sports. As his sons grew up, he enjoyed coaching their baseball and soccer teams and attending their many sporting events. One of Dick’s favorite sports was golf. He was a long time member of the Denison Country Club and enjoyed playing golf with his friends. He passed this love of golf onto his wife Marilyn, and also his sons, who all continue to play today. He enjoyed playing in several husband-wife and scramble tournaments with his boys throughout the years. Dick also enjoyed watching golf, Iowa football/basketball and of course, college wrestling. He also grew to love auto racing, and watching his great nephew, Kyle, work his way into NASCAR. Dick had a love for snowmobiling. He spent many winters going on long snowmobile trips with many close friends and family. Later in life, he enjoyed watching his grandchildren perform in other sports as well.
Dick was a man of routine. Everything from phone calls to friends and family, to the shows he loved to watch the most. Everyone knew where to find him at any hour of the day. From walking at the gym, to watching Price Is Right, to spending time uptown with his “homies”, catching up on the latest news.
Dick had always been an avid backyard enthusiast. On any given day during the summer you could find him in his backyard grilling and visiting with friends. These were the times that Dick cherished very much, as it built strong bonds with neighbors in his condo community and other close friends. He not only enjoyed the company of his friends, but the company of his sons' friends as well. Dick always had a bar stool, a cold beer, and of course, some words of wisdom, for anyone who stopped by. He cherished each visit and always made sure there was laughter in the air.
Dick was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Dennis, and grandson, Tyler. He is survived by his wife Marilyn of 41 years, 2 sons; Derek (Pam) of Shawnee, Kansas, and Ty (Chrissy) of Ankeny, Iowa, along with his four grandchildren, Brooke, Lexi, Reid and Rece; brother Daryl Weatherman of Osage Beach, Missouri; sister Diane Parsons (Steve) of Lake Ozark, Missouri; nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
