On April 6, 1974, Donna was united in marriage to Donald DeMey in Manilla. From this union, they were blessed with three children: Keli, Ryan, and Traci. They made their home in Denison. Family was at the center of Donna's world, and she cherished every moment spent with her loved ones.

She engaged in volunteer work with Cub Scouts and as Secretary of the Little League where she managed the concession stands for many years. She had a deep love for animals which was evident in her life choices even after her passing as her family generously donated her Pacemaker to the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine.
